Projects
Diversion Designers' mission is to divert the maximum amount of waste from the landfill all around Colorado through implementation of sustainable waste systems as well as waste tracking and reporting. Here are some recaps of the work we have accomplished thus far!
01
Waste Composition Studies
In collaboration with MSW Consultants and the City of Greeley, Diversion Designers executed all field work and data collection for the 2023 waste characterization study. Over two seasons we sorted over 80 samples and 16,000lbs of residential waste into 51 categories. This information will be used to obtain funding for the city’s resource recovery goals.
02
Reuse Denver
Diversion Designers teamed up with the city and county of Denver to develop the first ever reusable service ware pilot program at retail food establishments within the city. Over one year we recruited 35 participants to join the project, offered technical assistance as they transitioned to reusable service ware, and offered $600 in initial investment of durables.
03
Vortex Festival
This was one for the books! Vortex is an eccentric and artistic music festival that brought community together by Meow Wolf and Live Nation. In a team effort, we were able to divert over 80% of the waste created and prevent over 30,000 single-use plastic items from entering the event.
04
Heritage Fire Festival
We returned for the second year in a row and were able to use our experience in 2022 to improve the diversion rate of this food and wine event by over 58% to reach the highest diversion we have ever seen at a whopping 93.3%!
05
Trellis Projects
Helping garden companies reach food resiliency in urban spaces by building trellises with reclaimed metal.
